Dr. Appointment

After getting my hands on the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and reading it in less than five days, I made a list of questions that I took to my doctor yesterday. I can honestly say my appointment went better than I thought it would, and I left not only feeling 100% confident in my doctor's ability, but also about moving forward. He basically told me that I had not yet given my body a chance to do its thing since my surgery and that I really needed to relax and not think about silly things like charting body temps, checking bodily fluids, and OPKs. His recommendation was that I take the next three months off of ANY type of thinking about babies, and that if I didn't get pregnant before my next appointment in April, then I could worry about things in April. The only thing he told me to do in that time was to make sure I was doing the baby dance every other day starting on day 10 of my cycle and continuing through to day 20, and that the only information he wanted from me IF I needed to come back in April was which days AF showed up, if she showed up.

I can't even begin to explain the euphoria and confidence I felt when I left his office yesterday. He addressed each and every one of my questions with not only his answer, but why he answered the way he did. He didn't make me feel rushed and like my concerns weren't legitimate. He really helped put my poor mind at ease, and even recommended a trip to Hawaii. I laughed and told him we were actually trying to go on a beach vacation. lol

To top off an excellent appointment, the sun was shining and the sky was clear blue when I left. (Of course, our daily snow storm still rolled in by 5:00, just in time for my commute home. LOL! [Yes, my little car slid all over the dang place.])

So my assignment for the next few months is to just really, honest to God take a break from worrying about getting pregnant. To assist myself with this assignment, I have purchased CDs for meditation, which I started last night, and learning to control your anxiety, which I will start today. I am still waiting for AF to rear her ugly head this month, so it IS possible there is already a little bun in the oven, but my hopes aren't high. I think I stressed myself out way too much this past month.

The good thing is that if I find out that I am not pregnant, I am okay with it. I might need my moment when the shoe first drops, but I don't think I will be distraught just because if I am pregnant it either means no Scotland trip for me, or the trip has to be moved up to earlier in the year, which could mean my little brother wouldn't get to go with us, and I can't do that to him.

Here's to relaxing! And the sun is even out again today! :D

Hi Michelle, I'm so pleased to hear that you are feeling more comforted by what sounds like a great doctor's appointment. I wish that every woman's doctor took the time to listen carefully and answer properly. Enjoy the next couple of months and don't let that hectic work schedule get on top of you. Take care & chat soon, Liz

I think your Doc has given you very sound advice Michelle.. I have been thinking about the previous comments that I left for you and I feel it was wrong to impose my experience of conception on you.
Everyone is different and mother nature will have the last word.. but your doc is absolutely right by saying you should try and switch off and relax..
Think positive happy thoughts and the rest will follow all in good time...

Hey Michelle, check the weather forecast ~ it's going to get above freezing (just) on Wednesday! I can now understand the move to Texas would seem appealing, it's so cold there and has been for so long! How much longer does your winter last?
Stay warm and take care, Liz x
