To New Friends!

Before I started the infertility process over a year ago now, I was a rather introverted person. I pretty much kept to myself and wasn't very outgoing. However, I've done a lot of changing in the past year. I found that I was not the only person within a 50 mile radius undergoing treatments (which is how it feels here in Happy Valley, surrounded by 19-year-old pregnant girls), and I started gravitating towards women who were either going through the same things as me, or had gone through them before. I became more outgoing and started making friends.

A couple months ago I found out that one of the guys whom I work with and his wife were doing an IVF treatment, which is like the King of all infertility treatments. I've been through a lot the last year, and it has been one hell of a ride, but it doesn't compare to IVF treatments, in my opinion. I wished them all the best, and prayed for their success over the next couple weeks. One day I asked him if they had any news. He told me that they had just found out the treatment didn't take. I just sat there and cried for them. It broke my heart.

I had never met my co-worker's wife before, but I figured she had to be something special if she was married to him. I went out and bought her some flowers, and tearfully took them to her husband to deliver them for me. A week later, she contacted me and we talked about everything we had both been through and determined we wanted to meet each other. A couple weeks later we met in person, and I found her to be absolutely adorable.

Tonight we are going out with this couple to dinner and a movie, and we are all very excited. We even made dinner reservations! In the correspondence we have had over the past couple months, I have determined that I will really like her, and I look forward to the opportunity of being her friend.

I really like new friends, and for the first time in my life, I really like making new girl friends. :)

Winter Favorites

Before I met my husband who abhores cold weather and insists upon only vacationing to warm places, I used to really enjoy the winter months and the cold. I used to love being a tad chilly over being a tad warm. I always looked forward to pulling out the fall/winter wardrobe and layering my clothes. But since I have been married to my sweetie, I tend to enjoy being warm rather than chilly. I'm not sure what changed there, or how he got me to change my opinion, but he did. However, there are a few things that I still really enjoy about cold weather. I wanted to list a few of these things in an attempt to send warm feelings your way. :)
  1. Taking hot showers.
  2. The sound of the heater kicking on, and the way it smells when it starts pushing warm air through the house.
  3. Being under blankets.
  4. Snuggling under blankets with my husband or pooch.
  5. Turning on our gas fire place (aka The Gates of Hell).
  6. Eating soup! Especially cheese soup and warm, fresh baked bread.
  7. Wearing socks all day long.
  8. The way I look in my winter coat and Scottish wool scarf.
  9. Sitting under a blanket, watching TV while it snows outside.
  10. The way everything is snow covered and the way the sun shines on it after it has snowed.

One-Month Update

Today is officialy four weeks since I underwent my endometrial resection. I can honestly say this has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life so far. I know I was told before the surgery that I would be easily exhausted for the next 6-12 months, but I didn't think they meant it!

Hubs and I went to Texas last week for Thanksgiving. We were supposed to be there for a full week. We began the trip with going to the annual Houston Renaissance Festival that we go to every year. We always dress up, and sometimes fly down there just to go to the festival with Hubs' friends. We spent approximately 6 hours walking around and looking at things last Saturday. Needless to say, by the end of the day I was completely swollen, and so exhausted all I could do the next two days was lay around. We ended up going home from Texas early because of the exhaustion and my grandma's funeral.

One of the very most frustrating things is that I still don't have the energy to clean my entire house in one day. It took me four days to clean my little house, and even then I didn't get it all done. After about an hour and a half of activity, I'm swollen and down for the count. It has brought me to tears more times than I can count.

Needless to say, I don't think my body is ready to house a baby yet, so we don't plan to even start trying until early next year. I don't think I will ever undergo an endometrial resection again. Its for the birds.
