To New Friends!

Before I started the infertility process over a year ago now, I was a rather introverted person. I pretty much kept to myself and wasn't very outgoing. However, I've done a lot of changing in the past year. I found that I was not the only person within a 50 mile radius undergoing treatments (which is how it feels here in Happy Valley, surrounded by 19-year-old pregnant girls), and I started gravitating towards women who were either going through the same things as me, or had gone through them before. I became more outgoing and started making friends.

A couple months ago I found out that one of the guys whom I work with and his wife were doing an IVF treatment, which is like the King of all infertility treatments. I've been through a lot the last year, and it has been one hell of a ride, but it doesn't compare to IVF treatments, in my opinion. I wished them all the best, and prayed for their success over the next couple weeks. One day I asked him if they had any news. He told me that they had just found out the treatment didn't take. I just sat there and cried for them. It broke my heart.

I had never met my co-worker's wife before, but I figured she had to be something special if she was married to him. I went out and bought her some flowers, and tearfully took them to her husband to deliver them for me. A week later, she contacted me and we talked about everything we had both been through and determined we wanted to meet each other. A couple weeks later we met in person, and I found her to be absolutely adorable.

Tonight we are going out with this couple to dinner and a movie, and we are all very excited. We even made dinner reservations! In the correspondence we have had over the past couple months, I have determined that I will really like her, and I look forward to the opportunity of being her friend.

I really like new friends, and for the first time in my life, I really like making new girl friends. :)

Just would like to say I enjoyed reading your blogg, my daughter and her partner have just discovered that she is having difficulty in conceiving, she has had 2 hormone tests so far, both had a low reading although the second was higher than the first,so now another test has been arranged after which if still low will be passed to the fertility clinic. this is all so alien to me , I am 47 years old and my daughter is 25, I also have 2 other daughters of 20 and 13, I was very , very lucky in falling pregnant with each off them, also 2 misscarriages in between, so all this has come as a shock and I would like to support my daughter and her partner through all of this, I try to be positive but realise that all my words are just that , and that she is the one going through all this , so as you can gather I am a bit lost on the subject and have been looking at different options that they may be offered in time, although hopefully it will not reach that stage, fingers crossed, anyway just looking at you and how you are dealing with it all is an inspiration to me in helping my daughter, I thank you for that , I will read your blogg in the future and hope all goes well for both of you, kindest wishes, from a worried mummy in Scotland, K.
