Job Offer Details

I just have to say up front that I feel SERIOUSLY spoiled today. I got the details of my job offer yesterday afternoon, but have been in such a frenzy since yesterday morning I haven't had time to post or even read anyone else's blogs yet this week. I swear I will get to all of your blogs and leave comments as soon as I can. I didn't forget about any of you!

The job offer package completely blew my socks off! I figured that because the company was going to have to pay to relocate me that they would give me a low-ball offer (I know my current company low-balled both my husband and me, and they didn't have to pay reloc expenses). Instead they actually offered me more than I asked for, which is subsantially more than I make now. While my jaw was on the floor over the salary, I continued to get more details. The company is going to pay 100% of our relocation! They are going to send a moving company to box up our entire house, which means we don't have to lift one finger, and move it to Texas for us! On top of that, they are going to put us up in corporate housing for 30 days and put our stuff into storage to give us time to find a house. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I was informed that I even get a nice little sign-on bonus to help out with any other expenses we may incurr.

I spent all day yesterday in a happy little bubble, except for the part where I had to put in my two-week's notice. I felt bad about that, but offered my services until my position could be filled. Last night we went to our favorite restaurant to celebrate. We're on a first-name basis with the general manager there because he is also from Texas, so we also went to share our good news with him. Afterward we headed to Best Buy to buy me a GPS and satelite radio for the move. It was after I walked out of the store with my purchases in hand that it all really finally hit me. I am moving to Texas in less than three weeks!

I GOT THE JOB!!!!

The last couple days have been an amazing whirlwind. I flew out Sunday morning and my 4-hour layover in Denver turned into 6+. Luckily I had my laptop and a few movies, so I found a plug, cosied down, and watched "Becoming Jane." While I was sitting there, I got to talking to the genteman next to me who was on his way back home to Texas. He is a black preacher, and we had a really fun conversation. Just before my flight finally came in, he told me that if I got the job that I should call him and he would invite us over for some good Texas BBQ. I fully intend to take him up on that offer!

My flight got into Texas close to midnight, instead of its scheduled 9:30, but somehow this didn't stress me out. I got into my hotel, called my sweetie and talked for a minute, did my nightly routine, took a sleeping pill and was OUT until the alarm clock went off the next morning.

I was amazed how calm I was Monday morning as I was preparing myself for my interview. Something deep down told me I didn't need to stress, that the job was mine. So I dolled up, put on my 4" heals, and went to meet my shuttle to the interview.

My interview lasted close to 5 hours. I was shown around the facility which is AWESOME! They had a gym in the building, the awesomest kitchen/cafeteria I have ever seen in an office, and my favorite operating suite. This was a set of rooms that were set up to exactly mimic an operating room and intensive care room in a hospital. It was downright freaky how hospital-like the two rooms were. This was when I learned that my job as their Tech Writer would be hands on and I would get to play with every piece of equipment in these two rooms. SWEET! After being shown around the amazing facility, I was shuttled to my first interview of five. I was amazed at how calm and very confident I was during all five of my interviews. I felt laid back and personable. The gentleman who will be my new supervisor took me to an Indian restaurant for lunch where we talked about life outside of the office. He told me that he had never worked in a job before where he did so much with people from work after work. I thought, "That would be really awesome. I would love to have coworkers that I did things with after work.

After my 5-hour interview, I was shuttled back to the airport to reflect on the day, watch a movie, and try to figure out what the deuce was going on with my flight. Once back in the Denver airport I walked a mile (no joke) from my arrival gate to my next depature gate. When the flight was supposed to have been backing away from the gate to take me home, we got the message the flight had been delayed two hours. I hunkered down again and started talking to the people around me. I've never been so social in an airport in my whole life.

I finally made it home at 11:30 last night, and made it into my bed by 1:00. Needless to say, I slept in this morning and came to work late. However, the travel had done its damage and I woke up feeling terribly sleepy and with a massive headache.

When I got to work this morning I found that somehow my cell battery had drained during the night and died, which is a complete mystery to me, since it still had 1/3 charge left last night. I plugged it in, and as soon as it registered to the network, it told me I had a new voicemail message. I knew right off who it was, and was completely amazed they had gotten back to me so soon. Sure enough, it was my recruiter saying they wanted to extend me an offer package they thought I would be more than pleased with and it included moving expenses. My heart just pounded! I couldn't believe it! Its happening! I called the recuiter back right away, but had to leave a message, to which I am still awaiting the call right now. I called Hubs right off and said, "Do you want to go to Texas?" "Yes!" "Good! Because we're going!" Then I broke down and cried. lol All of the feelings I had been repressing the last few weeks were finally able to come to the surface and they did. I didn't allow myself to really think about anything until I had an offer, and now that I had the offer, they knew their time to be exposed was come.

This next few weeks is going to be a real whirlwind for our little household. I have sooooo much to do that I wouldn't allow myself to even think about without the job offer. I feel a breakout coming on. I am totally excited and can't wait to start our new life. I think this is going to be an awesome career move for me, and I can't wait to dig in. I have zero apprehensions.

See You on Tuesday

Well, Friday has finally come and my interview is on Monday. I'm flying out Sunday afternoon and will have a 4-hour layover in between here and there. I don't get in until 9:30 Sunday night, at which point I will head directly to the hotel to wait for my 4-hour interview first thing Monday morning.

What's that you ask? Am I nervous? ABSOLUTELY!!! I managed to quell my stress levels from Tuesday until today. I kept telling myself there was no reason to stress or fret because there was absolutely nothing I could do between now and then to either predict the future or change anything. But now that its Friday, it has hit me that I still have two writing samples to track down in hard copy before I go. This wouldn't be a big deal if the time between now and then wasn't completely booked. Tonight Hubs and I are going out with some coworkers of mine who also have IF problems, underwent treatments for years, and have also decided to take a break. Tomorrow I have to spend the day cleaning my house, doing laundry, and getting packed up for my trip. I'm trying so hard not to stress, but I am actually shaking right now just thinking about it.

I keep trying to replay my last conversation with the HR guy in my head. Trying to remember his exact words that made me not only extremely excited and hopeful, but that also lead me to believe this job was in the bag. My sweetie and my dad both told me I must still be in the running because they haven't called me to cancel my trip yet. lol I mean, the company IS paying 100% of all expenses for me to come out. I keep trying to tell myself that I have nothing to worry about and that my writing samples were stellar before I sent them to him for review, so they are still stellar in his hands. I keep trying to stop fretting, but I can't help what my grandma passed on to me.

I talked to my dad for an hour last night, and he facitiously told me that I should be worried about my interview because apparently I needed something to do. I know its silly, and I shouldn't worry or stress. There will be plenty of time for that later. I just need to take a few really deep breathes and blow out the stress and anxiety.

Wish me luck friends! I won't be back online again after I leave the office today until after I get back on Tuesday. *gulp!*

Finally!

Good news ladies, my temp finally jumped from 97.1 to 97.9 this morning. I was quite relieved to see that. I also did some thinking about the weirdness this morning and decided that maybe this is just the way my body works since my surgery. This is the first full month that I've temped (since I didn't get my book until mid-cycle last month), so I'll have to wait and see how it all goes next month. That being said, I still ovulated on day 19 of my cycle. I ovulated on day 19 last month, and the month before. I also remember the month we did AI that even with FSH and the HCG trigger, I still didn't ovulate until day 19.

I thought it was interesting my doctor told me the last time I talked to him that if I ovulated on day 19, it was too late in my cycle to be any good. I think that is the only thing he's ever said that I completely disagree with. Am I correct when I say that as long as my leutal phase is long enough, it doesn't matter when I ovulate in my cycle? Because that is the impression I got from my book. My cycles are pretty much consistenly 30-31 days with ovulation around days 18-19. At least if my temps drop for four days next month, I will know its normal. Temping has become cool again. lol

I also wanted to share something I find a little funny. About two months ago I accepted a contract job for a company that my company was contracting to restructure our company and hire new employees. I liked to call this team "The Bobs" because they reminded me of "The Bobs" on the movie Office Space. The guy I liked to call "The Main Bob" tended to be a little weird and give people the creeps. It turns out the guy was a drug addict. Who knew? But that wasn't where the creepiness ended for me. I always thought The Main Bob had no concept of personal space, like the "Close Talker" on Seinfeld, so I never thought much about the fact that he would always get right up in my face when he talked to me. I thought he did it to everyone. After I found out he was on drugs, I started talking to my coworkers about him and asking if they thought he had personal space issues. It turns out, I was the only one in the whole office that he did that to. Once the word got out that he had done that with me, all of my male coworkers were on their guard with him and started watching out for me.

A couple of weeks ago I had begun working on a new project with another one of The Bobs. When he didn't return my emails about the project and didn't show back up to work the following Monday, I informed my new supervisor that I couldn't track The Bob down. He told me that The Bobs had all been let go; their services were no longer needed, and they would not be back. Needless to say, that sent cheers through the company. Ding Dong The Main Bob is gone! Since The Bobs won't be back, and The Main Bob was the one in charge of my contract job, I have decided to tell them to stuff it. The money just isn't worth it. That decision totally made my day and brought a smile to my face. Now I just need to uninstall their software from my computer. :D

In Response

I thought I would post up a quick blog in reponse to the comments on my last blog, and because I am still totally confused about my temps!

I had some serious cramping yesterday starting at around lunch time and lasting through the rest of the evening. Although I am sick of thinking, "Maybe I'm ovulating today" every single day for the past week, I thought that my cramping was a really good indication the egg had been released. But when I took my temp this morning, I wanted to shake my thermometer again. My temp only crawled up one tenth of a degree from yesterday's 97.0 to 97.1. I am just utterly confused!

I do take my temps first thing in the morning right after I hit snooze for the first time (I usually hit it at least 6 times before getting out of bed). I actually get a kick out of my thermometer because it saves up to 10 temps taken within a 96 hour period, as well as the time they were taken. I will go into the memory and smile at the fact that each temp is EXACTLY 24 hours apart.

The things that are really confusing me are the fact that my temps were going up for the two days following the 14th, and then dropped from 97.9 to 97.1. Then the fact that they stayed low for days on end is just boggling my brain. My last few temps have been 97.1, 96.7 (which isn't an option on my chart that bottoms out at 97.0), 97.0, and 97.1. On top of that, these are the lowest temps of my cycle. Up until the 14th, my average temp was 97.5 with the lowest being 97.3. Even if I DO ovulate at this point, how much should my temperature jump? Should it jump to .2 degrees above my coverline to indicate ovulation? Or should it just jump .4 degrees from the 97.1 from today? At what point would my temp be indicative of ovulation? If last month's chart is any indication, my temps should be around 98.5 after ovulation. I'm a long way from that right now. Frustrating!

I would seriously think my thermometer was frizting if I hadn't retaken my temp yesterday with a different thermometer that confirmed the reading of the first. Is it just me, or does everyone else think this oddity is stress induced? In reading, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility," I don't think this pattern is at all normal. Even in the example charts where women ovulated late due to stress their temps didn't drop like mine has. I am seriously so frustrated with it that I'm debating if I even care enough to keep temping!

Maybe I should just quit doing anything in the conception way. The OPKs stressed me out big time because I was so afraid I'd never get that positive test and I'd be landed back in the dr's office. The temps aren't stressing me out, but they sure as hell are frustrating me. I thought it was fun at first to correlate temps with monthly symptoms, but I don't think so anymore. Perhaps ignorance is better. If I don't know my temps are really low and therefore don't know if I'm ovulationg, I can't worry about it, right? Maybe I just need to get that job in Texas so I can completely focus my thoughts and energy on something else for a while.

While I know this post makes me sound like I'm stressing about the temp thing, I'm really not. I'm just confused and frustrated. I'm just sick of knowing I'm broken and not "normal." I hate being on the bad side of statistics, and I feel like that is all I have been on this past year. I'm the 1 in 7 couples with fertility issues. I'm in the 1 in 25 women who have endo. I'm the 1 in 600 women who have erratic temps....

I think I seriously need a beach getaway. lol

Oops

So I guess I didn't ovulate on the 14th afterall. I thought for sure I did because of some pains, and my temps even began to dramatically increase over the next few days. But on the day when my temp should have crossed the cover line, it dropped almost a full degree from 97.9 to 97.3. I thought that was rather odd, but didn't think much about it. I figured it was an indication that I would ovulate the next day, but again my temp dropped to 97.1. Again, I thought it was odd, but didn't think much about it. The next day it dropped even further, to 96.7. Has anyone else who has ever temped had this problem? I thought maybe my thermometer batteries were dying, so I changed them out last night, and my temp only crawled to 97.0 today. I thought maybe my thermometer was bad, so I temped with a different BBT and it confirmed the reading of my other thermometer. I am seriously confused and a little disheartened.

I think this is partly my fault. I thought I ovulated on the 14th and was free to stress about this impending job, so I've just been letting the stress happen as it would, thinking it couldn't postpone ovulation this month because it had already happened. But on top of that, I have woken up the past two mornings completely nauseated, and today I have muscle aches that make no sense to me. I would think it was the flu, but I'm pretty sure its not. I'm sure its all stress induced.

I'm not really worried about the fact that I obviously haven't ovulated. I'm just a little confused. I had already determined that if it didn't work out this month, it would probably be for the best. And that if I do get that job, we won't try to conceive at all next month because I know for a fact my stress levels will be through the roof with the job change and trying to move. That means I won't bother temping, and we won't bother with timed baby dancing.

I think I am coming down off my interview high as of yesterday afternoon. My boss came around at lunch time yesterday and told everyone to go home for the rest of the day, since it was a holiday. I skipped out of here and went home to put together my writing samples and cover letter. The whole time I was writing the cover letter I was freaking out. All of my fears started to set it, and I was nervous as hell about submitting my samples. I suddenly lost my faith in my writing abilities and was afraid the employer would decide my writing sucked and they didn't want anything to do with me after all. A couple hours after submitting my samples, I began to cry. I'm not sure if it was hormones, nervousness, or fear. Maybe it was a combination of all of them. My husband lovingly stroked my back and told me it was all fine, and that my writing samples were really good (he never strokes my ego, so I know he was telling the truth). I still can't help being nervous. I have certainly come crashing down from my excitement on Friday.

I tried to help soothe my poor nerves last night by going shopping for a new suit to interview in next week. I found the most wonderful little number at a place called White House Black Market. I spent almost $400 on a complete outfit. By complete I mean jacket, top, pants, 4" heels, necklace, and bracelet.

So I'm a little down today between the non-ovulation, dropping temps, and nerves. I know I have no right to be down, but I am. :(

Thank You For Your Support

Wow! I don't think I've ever had a post with 11 comments before! Than you so much for all of your well wishes, kind thoughts, and support. Its always so fun to be excited, but its even more fun to have such wonderful people be excited with you. You are all truly wonderful women and I am so glad to know all of you. I have made some really wonderful friends in the few short months that I have been blogging on this site. It has been so neat to be able to not only share in your exitements, but for you all to be able to share in mine as well. There is just nothing like being exited for a friend.

My little brother came down and spent the weekend with us this past weekend, so out of respect for him, I didn't get online while he was here. Hence the reasons comments were not approved before today (I have decided to turn the moderation feature off today). I thought I should spend my time with him, since he came down at my request. It was the only thing I wanted from him for my birthday. The only time I spent on the computer was while I was trying to pull together my writing samples so I could submit them to my prospective employer (I had to track down the CDs from my previous job and find specific samples from about a dozen CDs). I didn't even get them sent off yet, but hopefully I will tonight.

Thank you again for all of your friendship. It really means a lot to me. Hugs!

I'm Interviewing in Texas!!!

I got the official call this morning, I did EXCELLENT in my Gallup interview yesterday, and my propsective employer is flying me out to Texas for an interview in a week!!!! Needless to say, I am completely beside myself with excitement and have had butterflys all morning. Now all I need to do is put together a portfolio of my work in the next week just in case they want samples of my work. I'm not sure if the guy could tell, but I was dancing around this morning when he told me they wanted to fly me out for an interview. Even Maggie was dancing!

Even better news is that I ovulated on my own yesterday! I couldn't believe it happened so early in my cycle, on my exact Day 14. For once I'm in the good statistic where I ovulated "on time" and not late. I'm just really glad it happened before all of the excitement/stress of this interview set in.

Yes, I am seriously stoked, but the rational side of me in the far reaches of the back of my head says, "You could be out of here in a month or less! That means you will have to pack up your ENTIRE house, find a place to live, travel back and forth between states for who knows how long, leave everything you have ever known behind, including family and friends, etc." Luckily my excitement pushes those thoughts back to the far reaches. I'm just too happy to worry about that stuff right now. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

To top off all of the excitement, the sun is out in all its glory today! We just had two days of snow and cloud cover, and I have to say I will not be one bit sad to leave behind the snowy, overcast, icy, and freezing days.

I am so excited!!!!!!

Happy Single-Awareness Day

Okay, I openly admit that I am not actually a fan of what I call "Crapentines." No, its not because I am bitter, I have just never appreciated the holiday. It seems so silly to me that we have to have one day a year set aside to tell the people we love that we love them. Why can't we tell and show them this the other 364 days a year? Roses would mean so much more to me if I were to get them on any other day of the year versus when the calendar prompts the delivery.

Perhaps the fact that my birthday falls so close to the holiday has something to do with it. Or perhaps I have some repressed childhood memory of getting a mean valentine from another kid in elementary school. Who knows? But for as long as I can remember, I never cared for the day. I told every boyfriend I had over the years not to do anything for me for Crapentines and threatened a breakup if he thought I was kidding. I actually had a guy test me one year. His roommates had convinced him that I was being "a silly girl" and really did want him to do something for me, so he did. We broke up. (Don't feel too bad, he was kind of moron anyway. He liked talking to me like I was a baby. NOT cool!)

I always like to test Hubs by asking him what he's getting me for Crapentines. His response, of course, is always, "Nothing!" I ask him why not, to which he replies, "Because I don't want it thrown at me!" Of course I would never throw anything at him, but we get a laugh out of the thought. "Why did you buy me these stupid roses?!" *chucks roses at sweetie's head*

But for those of you who do enjoy the holiday, which I am sure most of you do, I wish you a very happy Valentines day and hope that your sweeties adorne you with red roses, candy, and teddy bears. :)

I Had My First Interview!

I am so excited I just had to post about it! I got a call last Wednesday from a company in Texas wanting to interview me, even after I told them I lived out of state. The gentleman told me that he thought I was a perfect fit for the job, and that the company had been known to pay moving expenses. I couldn't believe it!

We setup my first interview for today, but I didn't dare tell anyone about it until it was over just in case I jinxed myself by talking about it. I just got off the call and have made it to the next round in the interview process. I will have my second interview tomorrow morning. If I pass that round, I will move onto the next. I am seriously stoked! Now I just need to learn how to sell myself like a salesman. lol

If I land this job it will not only move us to Texas ASAP, but I will make approximately 1.5 times or more than what I currently make. Not only that, but we'll hopefully finally get to settle down in a house we plan on staying in for years, AND I get another dog. :D

My fingers are so crossed!

I've Lost All My Fish

This past weekend we finally experienced some long overdue sunshine and some wonderfully warm temperatures. We hit the low 40's all weekend. Since it had been so long since we had been able to see into our 275 gallon fish pond to see any of our fish, and the temperature was finally warmer outside, Hubs decided to go try to thaw the ice and see if we had any survivors. He began the process of melting the ice by pouring boiling hot water on the top of the pond, but the water chilled almost instantly and barely melted anything. After a few pots of hot water, he decided to hook up the garden hose to our washing machine and pump hot water straight into the pond.

While he was thawing the pond, I was putting together a little slide show as my tribute to a winter that I will not miss when its over. After an hour of thawing, my sweetie came in and told me he had found a few of our fish, frozen in the ice. We had no idea at this point how thick the ice was, but were praying at least a few of our little guys made it. We had a heater in the pond all winter, but it was obviously completely inadequate. As the hours passed and the inches of ice continued to melt under the hose, we found more and more frozen fish. It was strangely ghostly looking into the ice in our pond with our dead fish frozen in suspended animation. Some looking like if we just thawed the ice around them, they would start swimming again. When all of the ice was melted we discovered that there was about 10" of ice, and our pond was a complete loss. All 20 of our fish slowly went into suspended animation over the past few months and froze to death. It touched me more than I thought it would. I've been so sad about it, I haven't been able to set foot in my backyard since we found them all dead.

We had originally wanted to take all of our fish with us to Texas, and had even made plans on how we would make it work. I know it all sounds silly, but each fish was special to us for different reasons, either because of their coloring, or the length of their fins. We knew each fish and appreciated them individually daily. Below is my tribute to my fish and the horrible winter that will never end.

Fish Roll:

  • 5 large goldsifh, approx 3" long, one with really long, flowy fins
  • 1 "Whitey" (the only fish with a name)
  • 4 fully black boys, approx 1" long, two with really long fins
  • 4 fully gold girls, approx 1" long, two with really long fins
  • 3 black and gold, approx 1" long
  • 3 algea eaters

Taking a Really Long Break

I have decided that I am going to take a year off from infertility treatments. I don't know what changed my mind or why I decided on a year, but I did. I think it might have been a bit of inspiration from my friend Cowboys and Custard. I think when I read that she didn't have her first child until she was 35 it flipped a switch in my head that said I had plenty of time, and that I should just take this next year off and let my body do its own thing. I really feel like this is the path I want to take right now. When I made that deicision, a real sense of calmness came over me, and I knew I'd made the right choice.

I just want to have a year where I don't think about treatments, hormones, shots, doctor visits, bills, etc. On top of that, my husband and I want to move, and we want to do it soon. Moving would involve a job change for me. Both changing jobs and moving are high stress times for me and not condusive to getting pregnant. So I have decided that I am just going to let things happen the way they will for 2008. If I get pregnant, great! If not, no big deal, we'll pick up treatments next year. I still have plenty of baby making years ahead of me. What's the hurry?

Over the next year the only thing I am going to do is temp. I'm not even going to use OPKs because the last time I did that it sent my stress levels through the freaking roof and postponed my ovulation. Kind of self-defeating.

I just want to take this next year to be me and to be happy. I want to only appreciate what I have in my life, and not what I want and don't have. I am married to the most wonderful man in the world. He is so perfect for me, and we are so much in love with each other. I have the best dog in the whole world. She keeps my stress levels and blood pressure low. I have a wonderful job and what I do is in high demand right now, which will eventually lead to our being able to move to Texas, where we really want to be. We have a wonderful house full of memories that we have made together. Does it get any better? (Can you tell the sun has actually been out here for the last week?! lol!)

So that is where I stand right now. Happy and content. Why change anything?

A Little Fun

Tonight I figured out how to create slide shows using Windows Movie Maker. It only took me about 3 hours, but I finally got a little slide show of my U.K. trip last year set up just right. I even got it set to the song, "A Tune for Jack," by Lemon Jelly, which is the song that epitomizes the trip for me. We took a day tour of the whole of Scotland, and our bus driver played his Lemon Jelly CD as we headed back into Edinburgh. I will always remember how relaxed I felt while I listened to this song as I watched the emerald green Scottish countryside go by with my head nestled on Adam's shoulder. Whenever I need to relax and take a break from my hectic day, I listen to this song and take in that memory.

Now I can share my idea of real relaxation with all of my blog friends instead of just telling you about it. :) Take a few minutes out of your busy day and relax, take a deep breath, and watch this oh so soothing slide show.

I am REALLY going to enjoy this at work.

Its a Benign Tumor

Last week I noticed a little pain on the back of my arm close to my armpit. At first I thought it was a zit because I had broken out in anticipation of AF and had some real doozies on my shoulders, but a zit never surfaced. After a couple of days went by, it started to feel more like a bruise. I checked it a couple times every day to see if I could see a bruise beginning to form and racked my brains as to how I could have possibly gotten a bruise there and how I wouldn't be able to remember getting it, but a bruise never formed. Then two nights ago I was checking things out again and felt a little lump. I went and asked my husband if he could feel the lump too, and sure enough, he could. I asked him if he thought I should go to the doctor since it had grown so quickly and was hurting me a lot. Like a guy, he told me that if it was him, he'd wait three months, and if it was still there THEN he would think about going to the doctor.

I went to bed that night a little apprehensive and scared, and determined that if it was any worse the next day, I would call the doctor. I woke up yesterday morning and the pain was much worse, the area that felt bruised was exponentially bigger, and the muscles in my arm not only hurt, but felt fatigued. Time to start panicking if you ask me! I called the doctor's office as soon as I got to work, and as luck would have it (finally going my way!) he had a cancellation yesterday afternoon. Of course I took it!

More than an hour after my scheduled appointment time, my very frazzled doctor finally walked through the door. At this point I was half asleep from waiting. After assessing the lump in my arm he told me that it was a non-cancerous tumor. I just stared at him for a few minutes while I collected my thoughts and said, "Tumors can form that fast?" Apparently they can. He seems to think it is what is called a lypoma, which is a little cluster of muscle or fat cells gone wrong. They are typically benign and can go away on their own. The reason mine hurt so much was because it had settled itself on a nerve branch in my upper arm. His recommendation was to stop touching it and wait until next week to see if the pain subsided. If it doesn't subside, he is going to have to cut it out. In response to the "cut it out" comment I asked, "But isn't it kind of deep?" Yes, yes it is. Fabulous.

The funny thing is that my husband had just had the same thing cut out of his forearm last month.

Ever since that stupid movie, Kindergarten Cop, with Arnold Schwartzenager that came out back in the late 80s or early 90s, my family has joked that any pain we felt was a tumor, to which the reply was always, "Its not a tuma!" Now I can honestly say its a tuma. lol

Yay for Weekends

This weekend was a crazy fun weekend. Saturday morning Hubs and I got up and went up to my parent's house where we picked up my dad and headed to the chiropractor. After the chiropractor I rushed back to my parent's house to get Maggie to the vet by noon for her yearly shots in the bum. Even though she didn't like being checked over and getting shot in the butt, she got a clean bill of health. Once we got back to my parent's house again, we went out to Famous Dave's for some birthday BBQ (for my b-day). After lunch was over, Hubs packed up Mags and headed home, while my little bro and I went to do some retail therapy.

This weekend's retail therapy session included a trip to the pet store to spoil Mags with some new toys, a new pet bed, and a new case of canned pooch food. Up next was Target. My little bro and I had a mission to find PEZ candy without the dispenser because I love the candy and could care less about the dispensers. We were unlucky with the PEZ mission at Target, and I mentioned to the checker girl that we were on a PEZ mission and that Target didn't have any, so she told us about a local candy store she frequented that had a whole PEZ section. The next stop was, of course, the candy store! Sure enough, upon finding the PEZ section we found a whole basket of loose packets of PEZ. We cleaned the store out, 49 in all at .20 cents a piece. We gleefully skipped back to the car with $10 worth of PEZ candy. The last stop of our retail therapy was the medical store to buy bandaids and a device for my dad.

We rounded out the evening spending some time with my dad, and then heading off to a hockey game. My little bro and I used to love to go to hockey games and have had plans to go to a few this season, but everytime we had plans to go, it would snow. Normally snow would not be a big deal, but I live 35 minutes away from my parents and the drive includes a nasty moutain pass that I do not brave when it snows. So we made it to our first hockey game of the season. Of course hockey games mean you have to get some combination of goodies including, "a game dog", some nachos, ice cream, cotton candy, soft pretzels, candied almonds, and soda. This game saw us with a plate of chicken nachos, a soft pretzel, ice cream, and sodas.

"Want more Nachos?"

"Is there a fight going on behind me again?"

After the second quarter when our team was one goal behind (since shoving an opposing team player into the goal net didn't count), we decided to head home. Our team just wasn't playing well and we didn't want to sit through the third quarter just to be faced with parking lot traffic. My little brother drove me home and spent the night watching movies with me.

The next morning we all slept until noon and spent the day just taking it easy. Needless to say, the weekend went by way too fast, and before I knew it, I was landed back at work this morning. All I have to say now is, "Is it Friday yet?"
